Using his immense charisma and oratory ability, Kane formed the Brotherhood of Nod by exploiting the disenfranchised peoples of many third world nations and rallying them to his cause, depicting himself as a "savior" and developing a fanatical cult of personality around himself. Ascension is a portal to what Kane believes is a utopia-like place during the events of Command & Conquer 4, Kane and the Brotherhood managed to achieve Ascension.
Alas, Kane has noble goals, which is to achieve Ascension.
